Steelcase Walkstation (walk while you work)

This is pretty cool. Steelcase, the workplace furniture manufacturer, has come out with a treadmill/desk called the Walkstation that allows you to walk (up to 2 mph) while you work at your computer. This product will be featured tomorrow night (Friday, August 1, 2008) on ABC’s 20/20. I’ve heard about people creating makeshift things like this to avoid sitting at a desk all day long. I’ve never tried typing while I’m walking slowly, but I’d love to see if I could do it.

Thanks for the tip on the 20/20 show!

Homemade treadmill desks work great! Since I got the treadmill for free from a friend, I have a total of $25 in my setup. I’d definitely encourage you to give it a try. And please join our group at http://officewalkers.ning.com/.

I just watched 20/20. The story about walking while you work was a good one. I’d love to try this, so I’ll have to see if I can rig a desk for our treadmill. And thanks to Brad for pointing us to his web site. Very cool, Brad!
