10 Exercise Myths

This post is just a point-by-point summary of a CNN Health article called 10 Exercise Myths that Won’t Go Away. Click on the link to read the whole article. Remember, these are exercise myths, not truths:

  1. Your cardio machine is counting the calories you’re burning.
  2. Women shouldn’t lift weights because it’ll make them bulky.
  3. Heart rate monitors will let you know how hard you’re working.
  4. Your weight is the end all, be all.
  5. Low-intensity exercise burns more fat.
  6. Chug a protein shake after workout.
  7. You can spot reduce for tight abs or toned arms.
  8. As long as I go to the gym 30-45 minutes, that gives me a pass to do what I want for rest of the day.
  9. No pain, no gain.
  10. Stretching will help prevent injuries.
