Have you heard about the Funhog Family? Brian and Jodi Tuten and their five young children are doing the first part of their 50-State Challenge, spending three months this summer visiting and having adventures in each of the 39 states east of their home city of Phoenix, AZ. We were privileged to be one of their Pennsylvania adventures! Brian and Jodi are passionate about families, relationships, and adventures, thus their motto for their 50-State Challenge: Making family the adventure and relationship the journey! They both love to do rock climbing, kayaking, and just about any other thing that involves the outdoors. And they’re raising their kids to live adventurously too. As they were leaving our house today in their 11-passenger van with five kayaks on top, I asked 2-year-old Elijah where they were going next. His response: “In a kayak!” I love their hearts. They’re physically active and they’re modeling it for their kids. And not only that, they do their adventures together. The kids learn outdoor skills, they learn to be active, and throughout this trip, they’re learning how to persevere through the record heat and humidity, and to be flexible and to laugh at storms and large bugs! Brian and Jodi have been blogging throughout the trip, writing about their adventures on their laptop, and then posting to their blog when they reach wi-fi spots. If you’d like to follow along on their adventures, you can read their posts, see their photos, and watch their videos at the Funhog Family blog. Moss doesn’t even attempt to grow on the Tuten family!
