About
Mission
The Gather No Moss mission is to help people begin and maintain physically fit lives. I feel so strongly that I can and must make a difference in people’s lives that I am compelled to combine it with two other passions (entrepreneurship and web development) to pursue fitness coaching and writing as a full-time vocation. I want to see people become fit and healthy, one body at a time.
Brian’s Story
After getting a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Penn State and then working for 22 years as a software engineer, I left the software industry in 2010 for a higher calling: to help people live better and longer lives through physically active lifestyles.
I’ve been an athlete for most of my life, playing four sports in high school, and continuing to play competitively during and after college. When we had our first child, it was time to give up team sports. Running became my alternative, something that I could fit into our family schedule. After years of running races ranging from 5Ks to half marathons (no marathon yet), in 2009 I finally learned how to swim correctly and competed in my first triathlon. It’s never too late to learn something new!
My wife and I realized early on that getting our kids involved in a variety of extracurricular activities would actually be detrimental to the health of our family. We can be healthy parents, raise healthy kids, and build a more cohesive family, by following a few simple principles.
I believe that our bodies are gifts from God, and that we’re called to be good stewards of them. And as parents, it is our responsibility to teach and model lifestyles of physical stewardship for our children.
